MacBook Air 13 screen replacement / Installation guide [Apple MacBook Air 13 LCD repair]

Shut down the laptop

To begin shut down the computer by holding the power button

Remove the back cover

Remove 10 P5 pentalobe screws from the back cover. Two middle screws nearest to the hinges are
longer than the rest. Remove the back cover by picking it up at the hinge side

Disconnect the battery, iSight Camera USB Connector, Video Cable

Disconnect the battery connector from the motherboard. Lift up the video connector securing bracket
and using both hands gently slide out the video connector. Disconnect the iSight camera USB
connector on the other side of the hinge. Using a T9 torque screwdriver remove two inner screws on
both hinges, four in total

Separate the top cover

Like with most MacBooks this one needs to be opened at a 90 degree angle to lift the top cover off.
it's best to hang the unit on the edge of the desk. For your convenience remove the final two
screws from the hinges Gently disconnect the Wi-Fi cables from the Wi-Fi module. Carefully pull
them out of the guide channel. Separate the top cover and set it aside

Prepare the replacement item

Prepare the replacement item. Make sure that all the cables are free and that all protective materials
have been removed. Position the hinges of the new part at a 90 degree angle

Install the new Display assembly

Place the main body over the edge of the desk and lower the new top cover onto the hinge mounts
Secure the Wi-Fi cabling around the hinge and replace the three T9 torque screws making sure the
Wi-Fi cables grounding bracket is in place. Replace the three T9 torque screws on the right hinge.
Do not fully tighten the hinge screws as the top cover needs to be aligned with the body. Close the
top cover and while standing the computer on its front edge align the rear corners of the top cover
with the corners of the body. Make sure the front edge corners are aligned with the body and
tighten one screw. Check alignment on the corner opposite of the tighten screw and fasten all other
hinge screws

Reconnect all the cables

Feed the Wi-Fi cables into the cable guide and reconnect the Wi-Fi module. Reconnect the
eyesight camera cable pins have to be on the top for a proper connection. Using both hands Slide
the video cable into the connector pins have to be on the top for a proper connection. Secure the
connector bracket and guide the video cable around the hinge. It is very important to not slant or
flip the connector connectors are extremely fragile. Please be extra cautious. Reconnect the battery
connector to the motherboard

Replace the back cover

Replace the back cover and secure 10 P5 pentalobe screws. Two longer screws go in the middle
of the edge nearest to the hinges. Power on the computer if the startup graphics appear the LCD
is working properly. Ensure that closing the lid triggers the sleeve function and you're done!
